I came across this blog post yesterday (link below), written by Joern Fischer – in the post and his attached paper he sums up succinctly the themes I touched on in my last post and in Science is not a corporate ladder. Hear hear!

Thanks for the link. This problem reminds me of problems noted by the slow science. In its manifesto at http://www.slow-science.org, it states that science needs time to develop quality.

Thanks Isaac, I like the manifesto! Slowness of Being (anything) is something we seem to have forgotten (see Hare and the Tortoise)
We seem to have become faster, more complex and more ‘immediate’ as a society, but we haven’t found the balance with efficiency, substance or meaningfulness. As you say, we need to appreciate Time more.
