PhD Scholarship in Community Ecology and Restoration of Upland Lagoons

We are seeking a suitably qualified applicant for a PhD scholarship in restoration and trophic ecology, to be based in UNE’s School of Environmental and Rural Sciences in Armidale. The student will have the opportunity to explore their own ideas around threatened Upland Wetland ecological communities in the New England Tablelands Bioregion, which are being degraded by agricultural activities. This project would suit a student with a Class I Honours and relevant work-experience in aquatic ecology, community ecology or ecosystem services. The candidate will be comfortable collecting ecological field data on multiple taxa (plants, insects, vertebrates), basic fitness and a competency in statistics and writing is essential. Scholarship includes stipend $27,596 + annual operating funds.

This PhD opportunity is only open to domestic (Australia/New Zealand) applicants.

Please forward a letter of application and curriculum vitae to myself (Manu.Saunders [@] une.edu.au), Dr Deborah Bower (Deborah.Bower [@] une.edu.au), or Dr John Hunter (jhunter8 [@] bigpond.com).

Project to commence by July 2019. Applications open until May 31 2019, or until filled.
